Swivel #1
Swivel Status Update
Greetings, Swivelers!
As you may have noticed, we haven't had a new issue for quite some time now...and that's because Swivel is currently comatose. No, the doctors have not pronounced Swivel dead, but at this point we have no way of knowing when our beloved lit mag will come out of it. Shall we continue the coma metaphor? Swivel is hooked up to all sort of machines, including the internet and the US postal service, so you can come by and visit any time you like and order copies of past issues (they remain awesome). But we are not currently accepting submissions of any kind. If you've submitted something before this announcement was posted, please accept my apologies—and well wishes for getting your work published elsewhere. Swivel on! —Brangien Davis Editrix in Chief New website a-go-go!
Greetings, Swivelers,
As you can see, we've been busy building a brand new website that we think lands Swivel smack dab in the middle of Web 2.0. (Honestly? We're not entirely sure what Web 2.0 means, but we know we want to participate!) So please take a moment to navigate our new site and all of its shiny new features. Hope you like it! In other news, I'm thrilled report the release of Lauren Weedman's hilarious new memoir, A Woman Trapped in a Woman's Body. Swivel was the first magazine to publish Lauren's writing, featuring "Diary of a Journal Reader" in Swivel #1 (now sold out). That story was selected to appear in Dave Eggers' Best American Non-Required Reading (2005) and prompted the book deal that resulted in A Woman Trapped. I was thrilled to serve as editor for the entire book, and I recommend it highly!Stay tuned for more Swivelicious news. --Brangien P.S. We filed all the ancient blog posts here. |
